Hexagonal Architecture, or more properly called Ports and Adapters, is an architectural style created by Alastair Cockburn that promotes adaptability, testability and focus through the separation between the core application and the external systems needed.

In this video, Alex explains the elements of Hexagonal Architecture, its trade-offs, a few variations, and compares it with microservices and Clean Architectural style.
